In the wake of severe storms, out-of-town contractors (often called “storm chasers”) frequently enter damaged neighborhoods offering quick, low-cost repairs. Be cautious and never sign a contract or pay cash up front to anyone who knocks on your door without verifying their state contractor credentials, general liability insurance, and worker’s compensation coverage.
